Tommy Underwood and the QISD staff are proud to announce that Lytal Field is once again the winner of the National Field of Excellence Award.

Who is a dedicated and passionate employee? When it comes to the football field, QISD Executive Director of Maintenance and Facilities Tommy Underwood leads a very dedicated crew of men. His entire grounds department takes much pride in Lytal Field.

"That field is his baby. He did not even know I was standing there taking photos. He really hated the brown spots on the field. It bothers him so much. I literally caught him at the beginning of the year on his belly dissecting the grass. When I asked him what he was doing, it scared him at first as he didn't know I was standing there, and he looked up and said 'grub worms...looking for grub worms and army ants,'" said Tommy's wife, Lisa Underwood.

Though the field experienced a hefty amount of rain this football season, each week referees and other teams commented on how the Lytal Field proved to be one of the best grass fields in the state.
