The Quinlan Lady Panthers Soccer Team is on a three game winning streak now with victories over Sunnyvale and Caddo Mills this past week.  All three of Quinlan's recent victories have been decided in overtime Penalty Kick Shootouts.

Quinlan defeated Sunnyvale HS this past Wednesday evening, March 6th, at 6 pm at Lytal Stadium.

The game was tied 0 to 0 at the end of the game, so the game would be decided by a Penalty Kick Shootout.

Both teams had a few scoring chances during the game, but both teams played excellent defense, including Junior Saray Villa who played goalkeeper and preserved the shutout for Quinlan.

In the penalty kick shootout, Tori Geisert served as the Quinlan goalkeeper.  Sunnyvale scored one goal, missed two shots outside the goal frame, and Tori saved the other two Sunnyvale penalty shot attempts.

For Quinlan,Sophomores Tori Geisert and Savannah Moreno scored on their penalty kick attempts, and that gave Quinlan their 2 to 1 victory.

On Saturday, March 9th, at Lytal Stadium, Quinlan defeated Caddo Mills.  The score was tied 4 to 4 at the end of the 80 minutes regulation time, so the game would again be decided by a Penalty Kick Shootout.

Caddo Mills took a 2 to 0 lead in the first half before Savannah Moreno scored on a beautiful assist from Sophomore Arleth Escobedo.  Caddo Mills scored again to take a 3 to 1 lead, but with six minutes to go in the first half, Tori Geisert scored on a corner kick, so the halftime score was 3 to 2.

In the second half, Senior Thalia Salazar was fouled in the penalty area, and she scored on the resulting Penalty Kick to tie the game at 3 to 3.  Caddo Mills came right back and scored taking the lead again 4 to 3.  But Quinlan tied the game up on another goal by Savannah Moreno on an assist from Tori Geisert.  The last 25 minutes of the game saw chances by both sides, but no more goals.

In the Penalty Kick Shootout, Tori Geisert again played Goalkeeper for Quinlan.  Caddo Mills scored one goal, but Tori made saves on their four other attempts.  Tori and Thalia scored on their attempts, and that was enough to give Quinlan the victory.

Quinlan's district record is now 5 wins and 2 losses, with one game remaining.

Before the Caddo Mills game on Saturday, the Seniors in the Quinlan Soccer Program were recognized and thanked for the contributions they have made.  They are Allie Teran, first year Manager, two year member Laighla Gassner, and four year members Jessie Alberto, Samantha Alvarez, and Sabina Ayala, and three year member Thalia Salazar, who is graduating after only three years.

Quinlan's last district game is against Crandall HS on Wednesday March 20th at 6 pm at Crandall Stadium.  The Lady Panthers will be advancing to the Playoffs for the second year in a row, but won't know who their first opponent will be until after the Crandall game.
